The Three Levels of EV Home Charging Devices

There are three different levels of electric vehicle charging devices available.

The three types of chargers include:

  • Level 1: This charging device comes standard with new vehicle purchases.

  • Level 2: A home charging device that charges much faster than a Level 1 charger. 

  • Level 3: Also known as industrial chargers are not available for home use.

Which EV charger is best for you?

The best home EV charger for you depends on your driving habits. People who don’t drive often could be satisfied with a Level 1 charger. If you drive many miles each day or drive frequently, a Level 2 charger may be the best option for you.

What to Expect with EV Home Charger Installation Services from BriteBox

  • Step 1: Schedule an appointment online with BriteBox or call (404) 252-3900 and speak with a BriteBox team member.

  • Step 2: A licensed, qualified BriteBox electrician will arrive at your home for the scheduled appointment time.

  • Step 3: The electrician will confirm the preferred position of the customer-supplied charging unit and cable routing with you according to your parking spot and electrical supply location.

  • Step 4: We’ll do a final safety check of your home’s electrics before we proceed with drilling and clipping cable to the wall as needed to affix the charging unit to its designated spot.

  • Step 5: Before connecting the charger to the electrical supply, the electrician will switch off the main power sources for safety.

  • Step 6: The installer will finish connecting the charger and turn the supply source back on to test it.

  • Step 7: Once proven to be a safe connection, we will proceed with helping you set up the charger’s smart capabilities.

  • Step 8: When everything is working properly, the installer will demonstrate how to use the charger safely and explain what each piece does. We’ll answer any questions you might have and will explain how to contact BriteBox if you have any issues later on. The electrician will check over the paperwork with you a final time then provide you with an electrical safety certificate.

Frequently Asked Questions about EV Home Charging Station Installation

A: Yes, in all cases either the customer, property owner, or an adult at least 18 years old must be present for the duration of the appointment. If the installation requires minimizing contact for health reasons, your installer may communicate over the phone instead of face-to-face while they’re on your property.
